good watch, good priceApr 24, 2008
By D. Gormley I got this before I did several months of backpacking and it was exactly what I needed. It has 3 alarms, 3 time zones, timer, chronograph, and the compass works great. I have banged it around some and it has been in extreme heat and cold without any problems. I chose this because the band attaches directly to the face, without the fabric connection that other timexes had. I liked the look of this better, and it held up really well. It looks pretty nice and while it is obviously not a dress watch, it is great for what it is. Dependable, sturdy, and functional.

Better than advertisedFeb 11, 2010

-Bezel rotates CCW and is raised above the window.
-3 selectable time zones. Military time option.
-Customizable mode set (hide unwanted modes). Means that you can 'hide' compass or any other menu item from showing up when you move from one item to the next. Example: press mode it goes to Alarm 1 then back to current time, or for time 2, goes to compass then to alarm 2 then time.
-Hydration is really just a interval timer.
-Three alarms, all can be set for Weekdays, Weekends or Daily.
-Out of the box (northern Illinois) the compass was perfectly aligned. I had no problem holding the watch level with the bubble level and getting a roughly accurate direction. Don't expect this watch to be accurate enough to bet your life on! If you need a real compass, then get one. Compass turns off in 20 seconds for battery life but you can change that. You can also change the declination angle.
-100-hour Chronograph does splits.
-24-hour Countdown timer.
-15 settable occasion alarms. You can set each to sound a reminder up to 9 days before the date, or the day of at any time. You can look forward to see future set alarms. Set reminders as "anniv, appt, bday, bill, bill-mo, bill-yr, doctor, game, gift, holi, holi-yr, multi, other, show, trip". "ANNIV, BDAY, DILL-YR and HOLI-YR" repeat yearly and "BILL-MO" repeat monthly.
-The indiglo night light only lights up the digits and compass needle not the whole face.
-Band has a raised area at the end of the tongue and is captured by a strap.
-Buttons freely move with a small shelf under them so that your wrist won't press a button but they are still easy to press. One of my buttons is not easy to move, but nothing to complain about compared to the old metal buttons.
I took a risk ordering this watch as I could not find the manual online, but after a week I am still extremely happy with it. Rubber strap will not get stinky as the leather Timex bands have in the past.
Hope this helps your decision.

Well worth the time...Sep 24, 2008

Searched around a lot before settling on this watch. Criteria included: ruggedness, set-and-forget functionality, everyday usage, performance for the price, aesthetics.
I was looking for a watch with alarm(s) and multiple time zones that could withstand a beating. Turns out this one satisfied those requirements and then some. Quite satisfied so far.

Excellent watchMar 20, 2009

Great watch. Compass needs to be calibrated but actually works pretty well - I've actually been using it regularly (I had my doubts and was worried it might be another gadget that never sees any real world use).

Great watch that lives up to its nameSep 11, 2010
By MariAndTom Wanted a more rugged outdoorsy watch for a hiking trip in Costa Rica. This watch is fantastic! The rubber wristband is very comfortable, and has a well-designed catch that snaps to keep the excess band in place. The display is easy to read in all light and dark conditions, compass works well (used it a few times), and the multi-time zone feature is handy. Had zero problems - through heat, fog, water, ziplining, etc. Now I wear it around town back home. Great watch!
